The "Welcome
to Hempstead" sign at the end of Cottonwood, visible from
HWY 290 just west of FM1488, was built for the Hempstead
Chamber of Commerce in the spring of 2007. The metal
inset was made by Trails West and based on the gates at the
BBQ Depot in Hempstead.
